CHARLESTON, S.C.- Trips to UNC Wilmington, FIU, and North Florida, as well as a local tournament at College of Charleston highlight the 2019 Charleston Southern volleyball schedule, head coach David McFatrich announced on Friday morning.
The Bucs travel to road tournaments hosted by UNC Wilmington, FIU, North Florida, and College of Charleston to open the 2019 season. CSU will host South Carolina State, Savannah State, and NC A&T, as well as the full Big South Conference slate in 2019.
The Buccaneers return eight players from last year's squad that advanced to the Big South quarterfinals in the postseason.
CSU also adds eight newcomers to the mix as the Bucs look to take the next step in 2019.
CSU opens the season on a three-match road trip at the UNC Wilmington tournament.
The Bucs open the year in Wilmington, N.C. as CSU takes part in the UNC Wilmington Tournament. CSU will take on the host Seahawks, North Florida, and Duquesne on August 30-31 to start the season.
CSU's home opener is set for Tuesday, September 3, against South Carolina State, the first of two home matches against MEAC schools in the 2019 season. The Bucs host NC A&T the following Tuesday inside the Buc Dome.
In between MEAC contests, the Bucs hit the road to Miami, Fla. to take part in the FIU Invitational on September 6-7. CSU's matches will include host, FIU, Stetson, and Hofstra.
The Bucs close out the preseason tournament schedule on September 13-14 at the UNF Tournament and September 20-21 at the College of Charleston Tournament. At UNF, CSU will take on Belmont, LIU Brooklyn, and Jacksonville University. The Bucs take on New Orleans, Jacksonville State, and College of Charleston in TD Arena to wrap up tournament play.
In between tournaments, the Bucs will travel to S.C. State on Sep. 17 for the pairs' second matchup of the year.
CSU starts Big South Conference play with a trio of road matches as the Bucs travel to Boiling Springs, N.C. to take on Gardner Webb on September 27. The Bucs then head east to face the Winthrop Eagles on September 28. After a week off, CSU will head to Clinton, S.C. to face Presbyterian.
A six-game homestand spanning October 11-26 includes matches against Radford, High Point, Campbell, Hampton, Gardner Webb, and Winthrop. The Bucs will head back on the road for a weekend series against UNC Asheville and USC Upstate on November 1-2, before returning home for Senior Day against Presbyterian on November 8.
The Bucs close out the regular season with a pair of road matches. CSU travels to High Point (Nov. 15), and Radford (Nov. 16).
