CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern opens the Big South portion of its 2018 schedule as preseason No. 3 Campbell awaits Friday evening before newcomer Hampton comes calling Saturday afternoon from Buccaneer Field House.

CSU enters the weekend after a two-week layoff due to Hurricane Florence conditions across the southeast.

The Bucs join Radford, Hampton and UNC Asheville as the lone Big South teams with records of .500-or-better after nonconference play. CSU carried a four-match win streak in the final day of the CofC Invitational before falling in two hard-fought, four-set matches to Davidson from the Atlantic-10 and host College of Charleston.

A whole host of Bucs had season-best performances the last time they were on the court. Hannah Western collected her first two double-doubles of the season, Madison Martin had 35 digs against College of Charleston, Addison Kaderli collected a season-best 13 kills, Naiomi Rivera had 139 assists across three matches and Madison Malloch collected a career-best 24 kills in a five-set win over The Citadel.

Opponent Preview

Big South preseason No. 3 Campbell enters conference play with a 2-8 record after a tough nonconference slate with trips to San Diego, Calif., Blacksburg, Va. and matchups with UNCW, N.C. Conference newcomer Hampton begins their weekend at Presbyterian Friday night before taking on CSU Saturday. The Pirates enter the weekend 5-5 overall as Kyndall Nicholas sits fifth in the conference in hitting percentage (.297), Sasha Saric sits seventh (.280) and Megann Delgado currently sits fourth in kills per set (3.13) and leads the Big South with her 0.77 aces per set.
