CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern heads to Radford, Virginia, this week for the Big South Women's Tennis Championship. The Bucs are seeded fifth in the tournament and will face the fourth seeded Campbell on Wednesday in a quarterfinal matchup.
CSU (8-10, 5-4 Big South) enters the post season having won two of their last three Big South matches in a row. CSU looked strong in both wins on their road trip to Radford and Longwood. They swept the doubles in each match and only lost one singles match between the two wins.
Ericson finished second in the conference with a 4-1 record at #2 singles in Big South play. She paired with fellow senior Kimberley Koerner on a doubles team that went 6-2 this season and won five matches in a row. She also played at the top two singles positions for the Bucs and won a team best nine matches over the course of the season.
Man finished the year with seven wins in Big South play which is tied for the most on the team. She did so despite playing at the top singles spot in the majority of matches while also playing No. 1 doubles in every Big South match this season. When not at No.1, the sophomore went 4-0 in Big South singles at No. 2 position.
Campbell took the regular season match over the Bucs, 4-3. After dropping the doubles point, the Bucs won three of the first four singles before losing the final two. The Camels went 12-10 this season and finished 6-3 in Big South play. They travel to Radford having won their last four conference matches in a row.
The fifth-seeded Bucs will take on fourth-seeded Campbell in Radford on Wednesday. The Big South quarterfinal match is set for noon and live results can be found on csusports.com.
