CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Charleston Southern's Filippa Ericson and Madalina Man were recognized among the Big South's annual award winners as the conference office announced the 2018-19 women's tennis postseason awards on Monday afternoon.
Ericson earned All-Conference First Team Singles and All-Academic recognition, while Man was also honored on the Big South's All-Conference First Team Singles as the Bucs head to Radford, Virginia, for this week's Big South Women's Tennis Championship.
Ericson finished second in the conference with a 4-1 record at #2 singles in Big South play. She was half of a doubles team that went 6-2 this season and won five matches in a row. The senior lined up at the top two singles positions for the Bucs and won a team best nine matches over the course of the season. In the classroom, Ericson holds a 3.87 GPA and is majoring in marketing.
Man finished the year with seven wins in Big South play which is tied for the most on the team. She did so by lining up at the top singles spot in the majority of matches while also playing No. 1 doubles in every match this season. When not at No.1, the sophomore went 4-0 in Big South singles at No. 2 position.
The duo continues an impressive streak as CSU has now had an all-conference tennis player for 15 straight seasons, but this is the first time CSU has had two athletes named first-team singles since Marketa Placha and Yvonne Hubler were selected in 2015.
The fifth-seeded Bucs will take on fourth-seeded Campbell in Radford on Wednesday. The Big South quarterfinal match is set for noon and live results can be found on csusports.com.
