Terrill, Buccaneers announce 2018 soccer schedule

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern will host nine matches on the friendly pitch of the CSU Soccer Field this fall as Head Coach Eric Terrill announced the release of the 2018 women's soccer schedule on Tuesday afternoon.

Highlighting the home schedule includes matches against Mercer, FIU, Ball State, and Jacksonville. The 2018 Silver Cup match against College of Charleston will take place at Patriots Point on September 6. CSU's conference home slate includes matches against Longwood, UNC Asheville, Campbell, High Point, and Hampton.

The Bucs add a first-time opponent to the schedule in 2018 as CSU welcomes Ball State to the CSU Soccer Field on September 2. CSU will also renew its rivalry with Florida International on August 31 in the first meeting between the two teams since 2003. Returning to the schedule include contests with Wofford, Mercer, Jacksonville, and S.C. State.

CSU opens the 2018 season on the road at Wofford for the second time in the past three seasons. Kickoff in the season opener in Spartanburg, S.C. at Snyder Field is set for August 19. The Bucs return home for a three-game stand against Mercer (Aug. 26), FIU (Aug. 31), and Ball State (Sept. 2).

The annual Silver Cup battle will take place at College of Charleston on September 6. CSU closes out non-conference play at home against Jacksonville (Sept. 9) and on the road against S.C. State (Sept. 13).

Conference play begins on the road for CSU as the Bucs travel to three of their first four matches. The Bucs open Big South action at Radford (Sept. 15), and remain on the road for a midweek contest on against Presbyterian (Sept. 19). CSU's conference home opener is set for September 22 against Longwood, before the Bucs close out the early road schedule against Big South newcomer USC Upstate on September 26.

A stretch of three of four matches at home ends September and opens the final month of the regular season. CSU hosts UNC Asheville (Sept. 29) and Campbell (Oct. 3) to open the stretch, before hitting the road for a weekend contest at Gardner-Webb (Oct. 6). The homestand ends with a Wednesday contest against High Point on October 10.

Following a bye weekend, the Bucs make their final road trip of the regular season to Winthrop on October 17. Senior Day for CSU and the season finale is set against Big South newcomer Hampton on October 20.

The Big South Conference Women's Soccer Championships First Round starts on October 28 at the site of the higher seed institutions. The semifinals and finals will be held on November 3-4 in Charlotte, N.C.
