JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. - Charleston Southern wrapped up the Briar's Creek Invitational on Wednesday afternoon as the Buccaneers placed 16th overall in the team standings on the final day.
The Buccaneers finished with a team score of 316 in carding a 28-over-par round to finish ahead of Big South foe UNC Asheville on the two-day event.
Ellen Hume improved on her standing by 26 spots as the freshman finished the weekend with a CSU best 70, 2-under-par round to finish in a three-way tie for 20th in the field. The London, England native birdied the fifth, sixth, 14th and 18th holes on her way to tying for the second-best round of the day at The Golf Club at Briar's Creek.
Andriel Aimua struggled over her final round finishing 11-over-par on her way to tying for 63rd overall in the field. The senior birdied the seventh and 17th holes, but a triple-bogey on the fifth and a double on 18th finished her round with an 83 overall. Aimua finished the week 15-over-par over the three rounds.
Daniela Intriago finished tied for 83rd overall in the field after carding a 10-over-par scorecard over the final 18 holes. The sophomore finished third on the tea with a 22-over-par score for her three rounds.
Kathryn Thorne turned in the second-lowest scorecard for the Buccaneers on the final round of the tournament. The freshman birdied the seventh hole on her way to finishing the round nine-over-par with an 81. Thorne tied for 89th in the field with a three-round 245 finishing 29-over-par.
Sarah Hameed rounded out the group finishing 93rd overall in the field with a three-round total of 44-over-par. She finished with a third round score of 87.
Charleston Southern hosts their lone match of the spring season on March 31-April 1 at The Plantation Course at Edisto as the Buccaneers hold the Edisto Island Invitational.
