Russell's school record paces Bucs on second day of Florida Relays

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Georgina Russell shattered the Charleston Southern record in the women's 1500m race on Friday evening to highlight the Buccaneers' efforts on day two of the Florida Relays at James G. Pressley Stadium.

Joshua Paramore led the Bucs in a deep men's 100m dash field. Paramore crossed the line in 10.96 to place 49th in the field on Friday.

Jasmine Pilgrim took on the deep field in the women's 100m dash. The senior sprinter finished with a time of 12.24 to place 43rd overall.

Charleston Southern women's 4x400m relay placed 30th overall in the field in Friday's preliminary rounds. The quartet of Shantel Ardley, Alexis Adams, Jasmine Pilgrim, and Caroline Edmondson crossed the line in 3:51.09.

Milan Williams paced the Bucs in the women's hammer throw event on Friday afternoon. The sophomore's final throw reached 54.11m to place ninth in the field. It was the second-longest throw in CSU history trailing only Daisy Whitaker's mark of 56.46m set at the Palmetto Classic in 2013.

Georgina Russell won her heat and set a new CSU record in taking on the field in the women's 1500m race on Friday evening. The senior crossed the line in 4:33.00 to win the third heat and placed 25th overall.

Her time shattered the previous CSU record by 5.78 set by Alicia Walker (4:38.78) in 2002 at the Big South Championships. It was the third-fastest time in the Big South this season.

Jaymee Domoney and Andrew Akright closed out the second day of the Florida Relays as the duo took on the field in the men's 1500m race. Domoney crossed the line in 3:51.93 to place 26th, while Akright finished in 3:53.41 to place 30th in the field. Domoney's time was the third-fastest in CSU history, while Akrights was seventh all-time.
