Buccaneers finish fourth at Big South Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships; Moore honored on All-Academic team

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Jacob Moore, Timothy Davis, Joshua Paramore, and Frankie Thomas were all on the podium for Charleston Southern on the final day of the 2017 Big South Indoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday afternoon as the Buccaneers closed out the two-day championship event.

Charleston Southern finished fourth overall in the team standings in the field with the Bucs earning 63 points in the competition. Liberty (257) won the conference title, while Campbell (170) and High Point (92.5) rounded out the top three on the afternoon.

Moore was recognized to the conference's Indoor Track & Field All-Academic team during Sunday's award ceremony. The senior throw is majoring in Kinesiology with a 3.74 GPA at CSU.

Moore closed out his final Big South Championships with the longest throw in his collegiate career. His final throw in round six of the event went 15.95m and placed him second overall and on the podium at the Big South Championships.

Joshua Paramore was on the podium for the Bucs in the 60m dash on Sunday afternoon. The sophomore sprinter finished third overall in the field with a time of 6.97 in his second Big South Indoor Championships.

Thomas finished on the podium in the high jump event. Thomas tied with Liberty's Anthony Colangelo with the third-highest jump of the day at 1.99m, and due to fewer misses, the CSU freshman took third place overall in the event.

Davis was also on the podium in the triple jump event. Davis' second jump of the afternoon cleared 14.65m to put him third overall on the day.

Paramore (7th) and freshman Justin Green (8th) led the Bucs in the 200m dash finals. Paramore crossed the line in 23.03, while Green finished in 23.05 in the event.

Freshman Jerky Wilson finished 13th overall in the 1-mile run on Sunday. Wilson crossed the line in 4:27.54 to lead the Bucs.

Freshman Vincent Johnson was sixth overall in the 60m hurdles event. He crossed the line 8.43 to pace the Bucs.

The Bucs placed seventh overall in the 4x400 meter relay on Sunday. The quartet of Terik Johnson, Keith Terry, Brandon Damon, and Josiah Scarlett crossed the line in 3:30.52.

JP Calgione finished seventh in the field with a final throw of 14.34m, while Ryan Spiecha (13.48m) and Clarence Moss (11.97m) finished 10th and 12th in the event.
