CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern rising senior Brandon Smith advanced through the U.S. Open qualifying stages this past week at the Paiute Golf Resort in Las Vegas.
The Las Vegas, Nev. Native fired a 67 to sit 5-under-par to finish as the low amateur in the qualifier. He will advance to play in the sectional stage on June 3rd.
"I'm very proud of Brandon," CSU head men's golf coach Jason Payne said. "It is a great accomplishment to advance through the local stage of U.S. Open qualifying. This is a great statement for our golf program and Charleston Southern University."
The Sectional Stages of the U.S. Open qualifying rounds consist of a one-day 36-hole qualifier to earn a spot to compete in the 2019 U.S. Open played on June 13-16 at Pebble Beach.
