CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern announced its 2018-19 men's golf schedule on Monday. The busy slate includes five fall events and four more in the spring building up to April's Big South Conference Championship.
CSU will once again host the East Bay Deli Classic at Kiawah Island's Turtle Point Golf Club. Head coach Jason Payne's Bucs will also tee it up in events hosted by local rival College of Charleston and fellow Palmetto State foes Furman and Wofford, among others.
"We're excited about getting started and look forward to the opportunities this schedule will give our guys to get better," Payne said. "Opening and closing the fall season out at Kiawah will be nice, and getting a chance to play a bunch will help our young guys get more comfortable as we head into the spring."
Led by Payne and returners Elliot Gothe and Connor Moore, CSU's young squad starts the season September 11-12 at The Ocean Course. Two events in North Carolina dot the October docket, before CSU returns to South Carolina for the Camden Collegiate October 20-21 and the East Bay Deli Classic November 4-6. Art Griffin, who will serve as a student assistant coach for the Bucs, won medalist honors at the Bucs' home event last fall.
In the spring, CSU will stay exclusively in South Carolina with tournaments in Hilton Head, Aiken, Greenville and Spartanburg. All of those events lead to the Big South Championship at The Patriot at Grand Harbor from April 17-20. CSU has finished fourth in Ninety Six each of the last two years.
