CHARLOTTE, N.C. – After taking three of their final five Big South series of the season, the Charleston Southern baseball team will be the No. 7 seed in the upcoming conference tournament from Fayetteville, N.C., as announced Saturday night by the conference office.
As the No. 7 seed, CSU will take on the No. 8 seed USC Upstate Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. from Segra Stadium in a single-elimination contest with the winner moving on to the double-elimination portion of the tournament beginning Wednesday.
The winner of Tuesday's matchup will face either the No. 2 seed Radford for No. 3 seed Winthrop Wednesday depending on how the 6/9 matchup goes Tuesday afternoon. The highest seed remaining will play Winthrop at 9 a.m. while the lowest seed takes on Campbell at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
CSU swept the Spartans last weekend thanks to dominant starting pitching and an explosive offense scoring nine-plus runs and collecting 14 hits in all three games. Tuesday is just the second all-time neutral site meeting between CSU and USC Upstate with the other coming in 2017 at Lexington County Ballpark.
First pitch Tuesday night between CSU and USC Upstate will be at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN3. Stay tuned to CSUsports.com and @CSUsports and @CSUgameday on Twitter for Big South baseball tournament coverage.
