Three Bucs recognized during summer leagues' All-Star Week

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern's Chris Singleton, Cody Maw, and Cole German were all recognized among the top players in their respective summer baseball leagues at the All-Star break. Singleton was a Coastal Plain League All-Star, Maw was the starting pitcher in the Great Lakes League All-Star Game, while German was a participant in the Valley Baseball League's All-Star Weekend Home Run Derby.

Singleton is hitting .297 from the plate in 32 games with the Lexington County Blowfish. He has 35 hits in 118 at-bats this season. Singleton is currently second on the team with seven doubles and tied for third on the team with two home runs, while leading the Blowfish with nine stolen bases.

Singleton, a rising junior at CSU, finished as one of the top bats in the Bucs' lineup, hitting .332 from the plate with a team-high four home runs and 12 doubles.

Maw currently has a 2.66 ERA with six starts and a complete game for the Licking County Settlers. The left-handed hurler started on the mound for the GLSCL South team in the All-Star Game. Maw has posted a 32:4 strikeout-to-walk ratio over the summer in 44.0 innings.

Maw, a rising sophomore at CSU, finished the 2016 season with 20 appearances on the mound, hurling 36.0 innings. He posted a 3.75 ERA with a 30:9 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

German is hitting .280 from the plate with a team-high five home runs on his way to participating in the Valley Baseball Home Run Derby. He has 39 hits in 107 at-bats, while driving in 14 RBI and scoring 17 runs.

German, a rising sophomore, hit .275 in 28 games with the Bucs in 2016. He was tied for second on the team with two triples, while scoring 11 runs.

Altogether, 13 members of the Charleston Southern baseball team are in action in various summer leagues around the country. The Bucs are represented in five different leagues including the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League and the local Coastal Plains League.
